In-School Branch Opens with Annual Golden Ticket Promotion

Marshall, Michigan – Marshall Community Credit Union (MCCU) is proud to continue sponsoring CU in School, a student-run branch program, at Marshall High School (MHS). The MHS CU in School branch opened on Friday, September 8, 2023, with a scavenger hunt, hiding three $100 “Golden Tickets” throughout the school.
The annual Golden Ticket promotion, inspired by the classic movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, helps generate a buzz amongst students and staff as the branch opens for the school year.
Laura Van Dyke, Financial Education Specialist, MCCU, and Student Tellers, Koby Brown and Carter Casarez, hid the Golden Tickets under two classroom chairs and in a random staff mailbox. “On opening day, a special announcement was made giving the location of the tickets,” said Van Dyke. “Then the real fun begins as the students look for the tickets – this is the most rewarding part of the promotion – seeing the buzz the promotion creates.”
The lucky student winners were, Jorja Uldriks and Jane Taylor, and staff English Teacher, Sara Burtis. The Golden Tickets can then be redeemed at the CU in School branch, now open every Friday during lunch hours. “Our goal for the program is to promote financial learning and provide a convenient location for students and staff members to do their banking, all while having some fun,” says Van Dyke
