Positive Savings Habits Developed During Youth Month

MARSHALL, MICHIGAN – Marshall Community Credit Union (MCCU) hosted Youth Month in April, a yearly month-long celebration dedicated to encouraging young members to grow their savings.

To mark the occasion, MCCU offered special incentives for its youth members including in-branch prizes, matching deposits, and rewards for opening new savings and checking accounts. New youth members who joined MCCU in April were eligible to receive up to $70 in rewards. As a result, MCCU awarded a total of $8,194.23 in rewards.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled with this year’s Youth Month results,” said MCCU Financial Education Specialist, Laura Van Dyke. “Our goal was to show young members the importance of saving and to reward them for their good banking habits.”

In addition to celebrating Youth Month, MCCU has several initiatives that focus on growing youth financial wellness including CU in School, financial education presentations, and Financial Reality Fairs. “MCCU’s commitment to educating local youth is paramount,” added Van Dyke.

“Through initiatives like Youth Month and our work within local school districts, we are creating opportunities for young people to have positive experiences with money.”
